Legal Partner | interim 12-month contract (m/w/d)

Your mission
This is a specialized role for a seasoned property lawyer to provide expert legal counsel on all property-related aspects of EV charging infrastructure development. The successful candidate will navigate complex legal landscapes, ensuring projects are legally sound and commercially viable. They will be a key player in supporting the expansion of EV charging networks across the UK.

  • Strategic Land Acquisition and Development: Conducting detailed due diligence on potential sites, including title investigations, planning history, and environmental assessments; negotiating and drafting complex land acquisition agreements, option agreements, and conditional contracts
  • Leasing and Rights of Way: Drafting and negotiating bespoke lease agreements with landowners, retail parks, service stations, and local authorities; securing and documenting necessary easements, wayleaves, and rights of access for cabling and infrastructure
  • Planning and Regulatory Compliance: Manage all legal aspects of site lease transactions once handed over by the Location Management Team; advising on planning regulations, permitted development rights, and the need for planning application; Liaising with local planning authorities and grid operators to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
  • Contractual Expertise: Draft and negotiate grid connection agreements and coordinate tri-partite contracts with landlords and network operators; advise on developer agreements and other site-related contracts that impact lease obligations
  • Project Management and Coordination: Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including surveyors, planners, and engineer and provide legal support to the UK team, ensuring alignment with EDRI Central Legal Counsel’s guidance and lead internal UK legal initiatives to enhance best practices in lease negotiations and property management
  • Risk Management and Dispute Resolution: Identifying and mitigating potential legal risks associated with EV charging infrastructure projects and staying up to date with changes in legislation, and case law; Assess legal risks in lease agreements, ensuring terms are commercially viable and enforceable, while safeguarding land access and operational rights
  • Client Relationship and Business Development: Building and maintaining strong client relationships and Contributing to business development by identifying new opportunities and building a network of contacts within the EV charging sector
Your profile
  • A graduate degree in law or equivalent and further specific qualification
  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with substantial post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Extensive experience in commercial property law, with a proven track record in complex transactions
  • Strong understanding of planning law, easements, and grid connection agreements
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills and a strong commercial acumen
  • Experience working within the energy or infrastructure sector is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and an excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects andto work independently and as part of a team
